- In New Jersey, unless you are demolishing your property, you do not need a licensed asbestos contractor to remove asbestos containing shingles/siding. The law permits a siding contractor to perform the removal.
- Not all vermiculite contains asbestos. Have it tested by an accredited laboratory to confirm/disprove the presence of asbestos.
- In New Jersey, any quantity over 3 square or 3 linear feet is regulated. Any quantity over 1% is considered asbestos containing.
- Besides vinyl floor tile and linoleum, the mastic or glue that holds the floor covering to the substrate can also contain asbestos. Have both the floor covering and mastic tested.
